I have made it for years the way we like it, but no recipe. The best way I can describe it is to peel, core & slice apples. Simmer with a VERY small amount of water til thay are tender. Mash the apples & measure them, put them & the same amount of white sugar into a large heavy pot. Add salt, maybe 1/2 teas to a quart, couple teas cinnamon, 1/2 teas allspice & 1/4 teas nutmeg per quart. Cook & stir often until it thickens as you like it, seal hot into sterilized jars. Turn jars upside down on a clean towel for 5 minutes, turn up & listen for them to seal. Remember, the spices & salt are a guesstimate, I go by taste. Many recipes call for vinegar, we don't like them.
